유희는 하루의 계획과 소소한 생각들을 습관처럼 메모장에 기입하고, 이를 작업을 통해 형상화 한다. 메모장에 적힌 이야기들은 연필과 노트, 시계, 토스트와 계란 프라이와 같은 단순하면서도 사적인 이미지들로 등장한다. 이는 삶에서 벌어지는 자신의 일상이 작품과 긴밀하게 연결된다고 여기는 작가의 생각이 반영된 것이다. 작가는 캔버스에 그려진 이러한 삶의 기록이 전시장에 걸리고, 관람객을 마주하는 순간 다양하게 해석되어지는 것을 즐긴다. 자신에게 주어진 평범한 일상이 누군가의 낯선 풍경이 되는 그 간극에 흥미를 두는 것이다. 또한 이를 가중시키기 위해 자신의 상상을 더하고 화면에 형태적인 변화를 주기도 한다. 그리고 작품으로 구현된 작가의 평범한 일상을 우리로 하여금 낯설게 받아들이고, 그 안에 각자만의 이야기로 새롭게 해석하도록 이끈다. 이러한 과정에서 우리는 그녀의 작업에 더욱 많은 의미를 부여하게 되는 것이다. 이처럼 유희는 개인사를 작품의 주제로 삼아 공론화하고 많은 이야기를 담아 냄으로써 삶과 예술이 불가분의 관계임을 드러낸다. 작가는 관람객 스스로 작품에 내재된 의미를 발견하고, 그 안에서 공유되는 일상을 이해하게 함으로써 그들에게 평범한 삶 속에 소소한 재미를 선사하는 것이다.

Yoohee habitually writes down her daily plans and trivial thoughts in a note. The stories on the note represented on the canvas as ordinary images or private images like a pencil, notepad, and clocks. She considers that an individual’s ordinary daily life is connected to her artwork, paints the utterly ordinary scenes of everyday life, such as the toast and fried egg she has every morning for breakfast. She enjoys how such documentations of private daily life painted on the canvases are interpreted in diverse ways the moment they are encountered by spectators. The artist, who is intrigued by the fact that her ordinary daily life becomes an unfamiliar scene to others, adds her won imaginations or gives changes in shape or perspective to the picture-plane in order to increase such sense of gap. She has accepted her ordinary daily routines embodied in ger works in an unfamiliar way, and leads us to newly interpret them as our own stories. So, she wants us to wonder about the work and then see the works in detail. Ultimately, yoohee is sharing her daily life with us, and presenting small fun things amidst the ordinary, through her work that enables the spectators to discover the meanings of the works on their own.
